We need more bases like Pyrochan’s Fashion, Zipple’s Medley, and Aerieyena’s Ursula that have unique, interesting styles.
And good poses. I’m getting sick of the standard facing-forward/hand-on-hip/insertotherboringpose sets.

If you want certain bases/styles etc., no one is stopping you. I encourage everybody to try making bases.
Base making is hard though. That’s why I don’t antagonize anybody who decides to give such a service. And in general, unique poses don’t get used as much as the generic type, and the generic type are a lot easier to make, especially for people just starting out.
I can’t speak for all base makers, but I make what I like whenever I am inspired. It irks me when people rag on me because I don’t make exactly what THEY want, as if I have to cater to them specifically. Not that you are in any way. I just thought I would throw in my two cents from the other side of the fence. XD
