Happy/cute dolls are usually cartoony, and include themes such as fairies, flowers, glitter, rainbows, etc. Unfortunately, I’ve realised that a lot of the cute dolls don’t have much depth or context. They focus too much on looking cute, and less on having meaning. I have to say that a lot of the more popular dollers find their style to be like this, but a good doll without meaning is shit, whereas a badly-done doll with concept and originality is awesome.
The same can be said for darker dollers and their use of blood, gore and sex. It really depends on how much you look past the OMG SHINY and focus on what matters: the idea.

Wow, intersting Blog and themes
I agree with you, that many cute dolls don’t have to tell so much than ‘expressive’ dolls. But the cute dolls often tell you one thing: Life can be a ‘happy playground’ too. So they often express happiness – when people just want to hug all the world
But as already said, very interesting here
I think I’ll fav your site and link (if I update again sometime XD).
